King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc. has an excellent growth opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Generalist with a special focus in Employee Relationsto join our team!
The Human Resources Generalist has a critical role conducting union employee relations meetings and providing day-to-day performance management guidance to retail store management.
The Human Resources Generalist ensures that employee relations are managed in a consistent, unbiased, fair and equitable manner, and regularly consults with the HR Director on all employee relations matters, as well as any concerns arising in the course of business partner functions.
The Human Resources Generalist has a critical role building and maintaining relationships with union representatives (UFCW Locals 1500 and 342).
This position is housed in King Kullen's corporate office in Hauppauge, but requires regular travel to and between our office and our King Kullen and Wild by Nature locations in Suffolk and Nassau counties, for the purpose of conducting employee relations meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, as well as Company policies
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
- Oversee onboarding and process classification changes and retirements
- Work closely with management and employees with the goal of maintaining harmonious work relationships and morale
- Manage employee recognition programs
- Maintain knowledge of developments, best practices and trends in employee relations and employment laws
- Work closely with the Payroll Department to meet employee needs
- Provide management with requested reports and documents
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist in a unionized environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources management or a related field
- Thorough knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including labor and employment laws and regulations; employee relations; performance management; leave administration
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail is critical
- Ability to think critically, prioritize, understand, evaluate and make sound judgments
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS system required
- Retail experience preferred
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, meet deadlines and work both collaboratively and independently
- Strong organizational, planning, and priority-setting skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid and clean NYS Driver's License and reliable vehicle (will be reimbursed for gas & mileage on vehicle)
