Human Performance Research Coordinator Job at Anadarko Industries, LLC
This position will support the Human Physiology, Performance, Protection, and Operations (H-3PO) Laboratory, which conducts research and provides operational expertise in several technical disciplines to address health and performance risks for astronauts. Disciplines include Extravehicular Activity (EVA) physiology, exercise physiology and countermeasures, and applied injury biomechanics. This position will work closely with the management team and project technical leads to facilitate human research studies and engineering evaluations. The employee will use project management techniques and processes to monitor and control scope, schedule, quality, risk, communications, and resources of multiple projects to ensure successful completion of deliverables.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
- Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
- Responsible for completing all assigned training
- Work with the H-3PO Technical Area Integrators and project leads to implement research activities outlined in strategic roadmaps
- Assist with human research studies, including coordinating/scheduling human test subjects, integration with stakeholders and collaborators, and assisting project lead with study oversight during all phases of the project
- Coordinate data analysis procedures: communicate with NASA statisticians as needed
- Coordinate and lead project logistics planning and implementation, including preparing study equipment and materials, communicating with internal and external scientists/engineers/staff, tracking study progress (milestones, deliverables, etc), and providing status reports
- Coordinate and lead preparing and maintaining study/project documentation, including Institutional Review Board protocols, test plans, test readiness review packages, schedules, progress reports, and presentations
- Assist preparing grant proposals, directed study task synopses, and other proposals related to future project work
- Perform project management tasks to assist the H-3PO lab managers, technical area integrators, and lab personnel with successfully implementing research studies and engineering evaluations
- Maintain effective communication between individual project teams, technical area integrators, and lab management team
- Assist preparing technical reports, manuscripts, and white papers
- Facilitate and monitor project meetings, prepare agendas, and record notes with key technical decisions in meeting minutes
- Participate in presenting project updates, status, issues, and other reporting for management and stakeholders
- Serve as a liaison with internal and external collaborators to effectively plan, track, and complete collaborative research and tasks
- Prepare purchase requisition documents and prepare supporting documents to establish subcontracts with collaborators, including statement of work (SOW), Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC), and market survey
- Communicate with external subcontract holders to monitor technical progress and ensure that costs accrue for work performed
- Demonstrate a positive problem-solving attitude with an enthusiasm for working as part of an exceptional team
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to the customer and team
- Serve as a test subject for protocol and hardware evaluations on a volunteer basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field and approximately 5 years of experience or combination of graduate-level education and experience is required
- At least 2 years experience utilizing project management techniques to coordinate/manage technical projects
- Experience in a fast-paced professional environment, supporting multiple projects
DESIRED:
- Experience supporting NASA or other government contracts
- Understanding of the scientific process and research design/implementation
- Knowledge of NASA mission operations and hardware relevant to human health countermeasures and to EVA
- Experience conducting human health and performance research, including physiological monitoring and/or kinematic analysis
Skills/Training
REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated project coordination experience and skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; employee will be required to work and communicate with human test subjects, astronauts, personnel across multiple JSC directorates and external collaborators
- Highly motivated with developed organizational skills; must be able to work independently with minimal oversight and support multiple projects
- Demonstrated real-time problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, both formal and informal, including oral presentations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software at intermediate to advanced working level
DESIRED:
- Completion of formal project management training and/or certification as recognized by the Project Management Institute or Kepner-Tregoe
- Experience contributing to proposals and manuscripts
- Ability to critically analyze data and perform statistical analysis
- Experience using SharePoint sites to maintain project documentation

Pay: $53,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
