ABOUT THE POSITION
The Coordinator, Human Resources, manages the daily administrative functions of the human resources department to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department in support of Episcopal Relief & Development's core values and strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to all internal and external human resources related inquiries, complaints, concerns or requests; refer more complex matters to appropriate human resources colleague.
- Serve as primary liaison with payroll administration, including but not limited to, collecting and ensuring accuracy of all data necessary for processing of bi-weekly payroll, monitoring accuracy of payroll throughout the year and generating payroll reports as needed.
- Administer employee health and benefit plans, including but not limited to, communicating benefits information to employees, serving as the point person for employee questions, processing enrollments, changes, terminations and benefit related reports, overseeing open enrollment and managing leaves.
- Facilitate the implementation, maintenance and reporting for HRIS, HRMS, benefits and payroll systems.
- Assist in development, implementation and enforcement of human resources and organizational guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Oversee new employee orientation, onboarding as well as off-boarding including but not limited to verifications (education, employment), references, background checks, etc.
- Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation in accordance with legal requirements and conduct periodic audits of human resource files, records and documentation.
- Provide administrative support to the human resources department including, but not limited to, processing mail and invoices, data entry, filing, reporting, coordinating meetings and other duties as assigned.
- Create, update, maintain and distribute human resources communications and documents.
- Support performance management processes and procedures
- Serve as liaison to staff-led Events Committee.
- Assist with external human resources audits and ad-hoc HR projects as needed. Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends, best practices and new technologies; recommend new approaches, policies, procedures and processes to improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
RELATED SKILLS:
- Human resources department handles sensitive personnel information; ability to respect the confidentiality of all documentation, data and personal interactions with staff and others required
- Superb interpersonal and customer service skills with strong judgment and the ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion, tact, diplomacy and good humor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sensitivity to diversity in all its forms with the ability to relate to people of different backgrounds and across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks and the ability to grasp concepts, procedures and systems quickly
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe and Google G Suite
- Working knowledge and practical application of payroll/payroll processing and benefits administration
- Working knowledge and practical application of human resources principles, practices, procedures and federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
- Understanding of, commitment to, and compatibility with the principles, values, and philosophy of Episcopal Relief & Development
EDUCATION:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business or related field and/or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of four years of Human Resources experience with at least two years of payroll and benefits administration experience
- Hands-on experience with HRIS, HRMS, payroll and/or benefits management software
- Demonstrated results in providing exceptional customer service
- Experience in the non-profit sector or international organizations helpful
