Our organization is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our team.

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct all HR activities and workflow of the Human Resources (HR) Department for two small, privately held, co-located companies.

Essential Functions:

· Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention. Provide feedback on resource requirements and allocation.

· Manage the Talent Acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for hourly employees, as well as managerial/exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Manage employee on-boarding process.

· Administer salary program, performance evaluations and salary changes. Works with managers to write new or revised job descriptions. Conducts compensation surveys. Makes recommendations on base salary and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

· Provide payroll, benefits services, and administration of sponsored health care benefits, 401-K and COBRA. Request quotes for annual Employee Health Care benefits and oversee annual enrollment. Obtain bids for company liability insurance and malpractice insurance annually.

· Talent Management - Create learning and development programs as well as initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Work with managers to identify cross-training opportunities within their unit as well as in other departments. Provide a variety of training programs such as HIPAA, Safety, and Preventing Sexual Harassment. Work with leadership to re-start Customer Service Training Program, utilizing external consultants to train internal managers. Explore the possibility of providing continuing education courses.

· Oversee employee relations and provide risk management consultation services. Investigate, research, advise management and resolve internal grievances alleging discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, etc.

· Direct the maintenance of employee records. Maintain up-to-date information on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations in order to assure organization’s compliance with regulations pertaining to personnel related matters. Continually review trends and best practices. Develop programs, policies, procedures and controls.

· Manage Leave of absence (FMLA, CFRA) disability, reasonable accommodations, unemployment, Workers Compensation and Safety Program including Employee/Patient Injury Reports/Safety Reviews.

· Acts as primary point-of-contact for external HR assets, including California Chamber of Commerce and Labor Attorney.

· Assist departmental supervisors in employee retention through group employee activities.

· Provide clear direction and priorities to staff members. Ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of staff members; clarify role and delegate appropriate responsibilities to achieve goals. Give timely constructive feedback and coaching, monitor services provided, effectively addresses performance problems and lead team to achieve a high standard of service excellence. Recommend hire, termination, salary adjustments and disciplinary actions. Approve work assignments, vacations, sick time, etc.

· Participate in a wide variety of special projects, programs and technology to reduce external and internal theft.

· Assume and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Must be willing to learn about the Eye Care Industry, by taking frequent walks throughout the building and holding discussions with staff and supervisors, in order to learn how each department functions, and in order to become visible.

· Participate occasionally in technical continuing education courses.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective upward and downward communication.

· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

· Proficiency with ADP or similar Payroll System.

· Must be willing to work alternating Saturdays (5 day work week) in a 6-days per week facility.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

· A minimum of three years of Human Resources experience preferred.

· Spanish language is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities, including stairs.

Please note that compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications as well as market and business considerations. Starting salary range $75,000 to $85,000 plus bonus based on your performance.
