The Westchester County Human Rights Commission seeks an Investigator to conduct factual investigations regarding complaints of discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, lending, and discriminatory harassment.

Working under direct supervision, the selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of timely and thorough investigations including, but not limited to: developing investigative plans, identifying and interviewing witnesses, collecting and analyzing data and written submissions, inputting clear summaries of information into case management systems, and preparing written reports and recommendations.

The ideal candidate should be motivated to combat discrimination and have a passion for uncovering and reporting the facts. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including having the ability to conduct interviews of parties and relevant witnesses. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have a high degree of initiative. Must have good judgment and be able to convey matters diplomatically, professionally, and collaboratively. Experience in EEO Investigations or other internal discrimination-related investigations may be helpful.

The Human Rights Commission, a division of County government established in 2000, enforces the County’s Human Rights Law and Fair Housing Law and engages in robust education and outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in interpreting civil rights laws and regulations performing investigatory work in the human rights field, or mediating disputes and negotiating agreements in the human rights field.

SUBSTITUTION: A Juris Doctorate Degree may be substituted for the required experience.
