Position Summary
Our Company is actively seeking an experienced HVAC Construction Project Manager with an advanced awareness of the technical need of controls systems programming, integration of other systems and very sophisticated HVAC strategies. This position may act as a lead to assist others on very complex project tasks including but not limited to direct supervision when required on projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide input to sales and operations regarding the technical and business consideration for construction or direct owner projects. This input could be associated with areas such as estimating, value engineering, timing, special resource need or other aspects peculiar to specific projects.
- Ensure projects documents, estimates and other information are available to all necessary personnel to maximum project productivity.
- Determine if customer expectations are similar to ABS s and if these can be achieved based upon ABS s estimate or contractual scope. Provide both internal and external feedback as necessary.
- Identify and resolve potential project issues in a timely manner.
- Forecast costs for each area of the project and maintain a variance analysis to determine if the job was over/under budget and what factors caused any overruns.
- Invoice projects timely and help accounting personnel with collections to minimize aging.
- Effectively work with the Procurement Department on all material purchases to ensure the pricing is appropriate. Ensure all equipment is compatible and will function properly to achieve the required sequences.
- Coordinate with Subcontractors or internal installation teams to ensure installations are performed efficiently.
- Recommend technical solutions to sales and operations. Assist the sales team during the estimation phase of the proposal.
- Identify change order opportunities and coordinate with the Sales Department.
- Provide support to ABS and other contractors in resolving issues identified on the job.
- Communicate with all members of the internal team assigned to the job to ensure resources are being used efficiently.
- Provide leadership and input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning and training for building systems.
- Review all engineered submittals ensuring adherence to scope, budget and customer expectations as well as location standards.
Develop, implement, and enforce policies that reduce the risk of accidents.
- Determines what policies are needed and how to enforce them.
- Responsible for keeping policies up to date, meeting the latest standards and establishing new ones from time to time as more and newer risks are discovered.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
- Initiate and organize OHSA training of employees and executives
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience of at least 5 years of successfully managing various HVAC construction projects in commercial/industrial environment.
- Four year technical degree in Mechanical, HVAC or Electronics related studies preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, construction documents, plans and specification.
- Must have good communication skills (written and oral)
- Computer skills required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with temperature control systems including Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Alerton, Schneider Electric, Trane or Siemens is a plus.
- Understanding of standard BAS components and programming helpful.
- State of Mass OSHA 30 Certification
- Valid Driver s License
- Good organizational skills a must
- Willingness to work 40+ hours per week
- Strong focus on customer service and quality.
- In depth knowledge of legislation and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
- Certificate in occupational health and safety
