The Langston University School of Agriculture Applied Science (LU-SAAS) seek applications for a staff position to serve as an Information Technology Specialist. The successful candidate will have at least a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, relevant IT certifications, and some experience in a similar role. She/he will provide technical support in computer hardware, network, and software applications for all academic, research, outreach programs and services offered by LU-SAAS. Will work under the direction of the Dean to maintains computer and communication systems, related peripheral equipment and software applications in the execution of agricultural research and extension activities. He/she will serve as the primary technical support resource in the upkeep and maintenance of labs, related computer network and diagnostic equipment. A significant asset for the ideal candidate will be someone with graphic skills to support SAAS communications Department.

General Duties may include but not limited to the following:

Sets up and configures new and existing computers and workstations for laboratories and office areas, install related peripheral equipment, and configures equipment, maybe needed to support software, network configuration settings and applications software.
Performs routine and custom computer, peripheral and component installations including storage systems, cables, connectors and printers, trouble shoots network, software and hardware problems and issues.
Assures basic operating systems connectivity between various computer systems as maybe necessary.
Monitors operation of computer equipment and software applications to assure proper execution; identify operational and equipment problems.
Assists employees, and students in resolving computer application and operational problems and investigate, trace and report sources of errors/problems.
Installs a wide variety of new software and software upgrades.
Serves as an IT technical resource for faculty, students, and staff in LU-SAAS
Maintain files of current computer technology in SAAS and keeps abreast of changes in
software and hardware as they occur.
Operates a variety of computers and peripheral equipment including printers, scanners, data storage devices, and telecommunications equipment.
Trains and provide work direction to student assistants. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Licensing and Certifications

BS is required but will consider other equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. MS Preferred.
Requires self-motivated individual who enjoys working with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
