Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Interpreter/Translator to provide language translation and interpretation services in the field of Health and Human Services/ Administration for Community Living. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting oral or sign language, or translating written text from one language into another to facilitate communication between individuals with limited English proficiency and healthcare providers, social workers, and other community service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality interpretation and translation services in a variety of settings, including medical appointments, social services appointments, and community events.
• Interpret oral or sign language from one language to another to facilitate communication between clients and healthcare providers, social workers, and other service providers.
• Translate written documents such as medical records, discharge summaries, and legal documents from one language to another.
• Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in all interpretation and translation work.
• Understand and follow ethical standards and guidelines for interpretation and translation.
• Stay up-to-date on medical and social services terminology in both the source and target languages.

Requirements:

• Fluency in at least two languages, including English and the target language(s) used in the local community.
• Experience interpreting or translating in a healthcare or social services setting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both the source and target languages.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and service providers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of medical and social services terminology in both the source and target languages.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in interpretation/translation or a related field preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in interpretation/translation in a healthcare or social services setting.
• Certification in interpretation/translation preferred but not required.
