Position Summary:

This position will assist with ticket escalations from the Help Desk as well as supplement the System Administrator and act as a backup for that position’s responsibilities. This position will provide significant opportunity to obtain hands on experience with networking and system administration tasks and technologies. Job is a hybrid position located in Middletown CT with some work from home flexibility. The eligible candidate for this position would work full time, 40 hours, 1st shift, Monday-Friday.

Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support and troubleshooting for escalations from the help desk
  • Performs on site and remote network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with network technology such as routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Support of Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Office 365/Exchange, SharePoint, etc.
  • Support of virtual environments including Hyper-V.
  • Support of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Configure, install, and support various network devices and services, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, and firewalls.
  • Configure and manage phone system as needed.
  • Document work performed in ticketing system and department Wiki.
  • Create and maintain thorough network and system documentation.
  • Help to standardize department workflows and create internal documentation.
  • SonicWALL, Cisco, and/or WatchGuard experience is a plus.
  • Network / IT Certificates are a plus (A+, S+, N+, CCNA, etc.)
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Multi-task and work well in a team. As well as work independently.
  • Research new issues and present findings.
  • High level of organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Working within Administrative Services, the Information Technology Specialist is part of the Information Technology team that supports smooth operations for agency programs across the state. The Connection provides essential services to people in need of assistance for homelessness, substance use treatment, behavioral healthcare, and returning to communities after incarceration.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of related experience, or Associate’s Degree and 3 years of related experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience along with Portfolio/documentation demonstrating Doman Skill Comprehension
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Current, valid US driver's license is required. Travel to offices throughout the state of Connecticut is required, company vehicle is available.

Orientation:

If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees will be required to attend a two (2) day mandatory New Hire Orientation at our Roscommon office located in Middletown.
