Scope:
The IT Technician is responsible for supporting the stable operation of the organization’s desktop computing environment and in-house computer network, in accordance with enterprise-wide policies and procedures. This includes ensuring continuity of computer system services for end-users by providing the technical expertise, assistance and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify/repair hardware and resolve technical problems. The IT Technician will also collaborate with the System Administrators to ensure efficient operations and minimize downtime.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Performs on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop issues for end-users; recommends and implements corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote-users and liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
  • Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots end-user desktop hardware, software, and network peripheral devices and cabling.
  • Monitors, diagnoses, and resolves hardware, software, and network infrastructure (LAN, WAN and WIFI) issues.
  • Monitors the performance of computer systems and networks, and coordinates computer network access and use.
  • Reports performance and emerging trend statistics to the management team.
  • Prepares, maintains and enforces procedures and assists in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
  • Performs systems asset management, including maintenance of desktop and network device inventory.
  • Liaises with, and providing training and support to desktop end users on all issues.
  • Supports the development and implementation of desktop and networking projects and new technology installations, as well as and roll-outs and communication to the end users.
  • Conducts research on desktop and network products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Performs system backups and recovery processes in accordance to procedure manuals.
  • Assists in the development of long-term strategies, standards and capacity planning to meet future hardware and technology needs.
  • Prepares and ensures accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help-sheets for standard desktop and network installations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • Associate’s Degree in the field of computer science or other related field, and/or 5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred certifications include:
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Microsoft Certification
  • Networking Certifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, including business desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.
  • Experience with supporting and troubleshooting hardware, systems & applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic, positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, team building and organizational skills.
  • Ability to research and troubleshoot desktop and network issues and products as required.
  • Ability to promote and participate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical methods and technical skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Able to work overtime & weekends as required.
  • Wear hairnet, safety glasses, long pants, steel toe shoes/boots and any other uniform standards.
  • Read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, including SOPs.
  • Sit, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Minimal travel required.
