Job Summary
The Oakland A's are proud to have created a Junior Scout Program that allows women and people of color to learn the basics of the trade in high traffic scouting areas. These scouts focus on underclassmen that are eligible for drafts further into the future and/or games that are less likely to be attended by full-time scouts. All Junior Scouts are given the opportunity to attend and participate in internal meetings, including but not limited to the draft, and other scouting activities throughout the year. Some of the organizations target areas for the program are Florida, Georgia (Atlanta), Texas and Southern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist area scouts with prospecting upcoming talent.
- Attend multiple games, tournaments, and workouts for prospective players.
- Create analytical scouting reports on each prospect and present findings to the team.
- Build strong relationships with schools, colleges, and other baseball community organizations.
- Maintain and update prospect data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Strong passion for baseball.
- Proficient with scheduling, creating reports, and presenting information.
- Willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
- Ability to work up to 29 hours per week in a non-traditional schedule (day, nights, and weekends).
