Job Description- K-12 Building Wide Substitute TeacherSouth Shore Charter Public School (SSCPS) is a diverse kindergarten through grade twelve free public charter school that serves 1,075 students. Our mission, Inspiring every student to excel in academics, service, and life, guides all we do as an educational institution. Our students come from over thirty-one communities along the South Shore; the top five districts our students come to us from are Weymouth, Brockton, Randolph, Rockland, and Abington. An SSCPS teacher will foster school improvement by demonstrating high expectations for all students and a commitment to providing the support required to attain these expectations. An SSCPS teacher must demonstrate cultural competencies and antiracist leadership through behaviors and decision-making both in and out of the classroom. An SSCPS teacher works hard to maintain a collegial environment that honors the teaching profession and encourages continuous learning. An SSCPS teacher manages conflicts and fosters consensus building in the classroom as well as throughout the school community.The Building Substitute Teacher manages student learning in accordance with the goals of South Shore Charter Public School.Essential Job Functions: Reports to: K-12 Principal Job Duties: The Building Substitute Teacher manages student learning in accordance with the goals of South Shore Charter Public School.
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks: Plan and deliver effective lessons as classroom support (when one or no staff members are absent)Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and provides students with consistent, concrete feedback; Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies; Maintains and respects confidentiality of students and the school; Complies with and supports school policies; Performs other instructional and administrative duties as deemed appropriate by the Principals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: FlexibilityExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work with diverse children, in grade K-12, including those with special needsAbility to work effectively as a team memberEducation and Experience: Candidate must possess a Bachelors DegreePrevious experience in education is preferredEvaluation: Principals will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
