Berkeley Public Health (BPH) aims to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable, through interdisciplinary collaborations, preeminent education, and transformational research. This position is for School of Public Health, at Dr. Eva Harris laboratory.

Responsibilities
Laboratory management, including inventory, order, and stock supplies, maintenance of equipment, update of chemical inventory, general lab organization and work with assistant students. Create and maintain databases used in the lab. Shipment of supplies to field sites and samples to collaborators. Support lab members with experiments, under supervision. Participates in workshops, training, and other professional development opportunities. Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Self-motivated, energetic, and able to work in a diverse team environment. Willing to develop and apply administrative skills. Willing to follow instructions carefully. Strong organizational skills. Interest in working in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree in administration, biology, or health sciences and/or equivalent experience/training.

Licenses/Certification:
Will require training through EH&S for BSL2 work and in shipping of dry ice and biological materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish. Computer and database management skills. Knowledge of basic Biosafety regulations. Experience working in a biological laboratory. Experience handling valuable patient serum samples.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $23.82 (step 1) - $26.46 (step 3.5).
This is a 18-month, 100% full-time (40 hours per week), limited (temporary) position that is eligible for UC benefits. This position is non-exempt and paid bi-weekly. This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Technical Unit (TX) between the University of California and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE). The automatic conversion to career status, as provided in Section B.2. above, will not occur when: The funding for the position is "one time" funding, of eighteen (18) months or less. (31.B.3.C).
