The laser helper assists the laser operator with loading and unloading the laser cutting table. It requires constant heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. The ideal applicant must be someone with a good attendance record, attention to detail and works well in a team environment. Overtime may include weekends, depending on customer demand. The cut department is currently working 40-45 hours per week. All new hires undergo a 90 day orientation period. This is a direct hire. Once an official job offer has been extended, the applicant will proceed to the next step which includes a criminal background check, drug screen and physical. We do hair follicle testing as well.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Laser Helper

Department: Fabrication

Reports To: Team Leader and/or Production Manager/Supervisor

Status: Full Time; Non-exempt

Summary: Cuts, trims, or scarfs metal objects with arc-cutting equipment to dimensions, contour, or bevel specified by blueprints, work order, or programmed layout by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Successful fulfill fork truck driver training and be certified.

· Material handling.

· Positions work piece onto plasma table with crane.

· Remove skeletons from table.

· Empty scrap hopper.

· Label parts coming off of laser.

· Grinds off chips, spurs, and slag from cracks and holes.

· Maintains accurate raw material inventory.

· Daily maintenance of machine.

· Communicates with Quality and other management as needed.

· Refer to and follow work instructions.

· Attend production meetings and follow production schedule.

· Other duties may be assigned.

· Maintain and follow 5S standards

· Wear steel toe shoes in designated areas

· Wear ANSI Z87.1-2010 approved safety glasses in designated areas

Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.

Language: Ability to read, write, and comprehend work instructions and other applicable correspondence.

Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Physical Demands: Regular use of hands to touch, hold, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms (including overhead); stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Meet the standards of the company physical. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is offered for your use.
