JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY: Act as primary server/bartender for our guest. This position will look to be a split opportunity for the right candidate, which includes serving & bartending while providing a fine dining experience. Maintain high service standards and safeguard the quality of food & beverage served.

REPORTS TO: Manager/Supervisor

PRIMARY DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • During Serving Service:
    • Attend roll call and get section assignment.
    • Expectation is to learn the food & drink menu in order to handle guest questions, as well at providing suggestions.
    • Greet guests and take their food & beverage orders, following our established serving procedures & sequence of service.
    • Input all orders into our POS system.
    • Keep your work area clean during the meal service period.
    • Follow opening & closing side works.
    • Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
    • In general, work to create a pleasant experience for your guests in all respects.
  • During Bartending Service:
    • Setup & breakdown the dining room bar.
    • Provide service to guests dining at the bar & our service bar.
    • Maintain knowledge of liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.
    • Maintain knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, and texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.
    • Maintain knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons.
    • Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
    • Maintain knowledge and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.
    • Be familiar with all hotel services/features/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
    • Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.

Requirements

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 18 years of age.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Good guest relations’ skills. Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to work quickly, calmly and quietly.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, write and follow simple verbal or written instructions. Ability to speak and understand English.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Previous work as a server/bartender in a similar service operation.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of our food & beverage service procedures and our menu selections

PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS: Must genuinely enjoy working with the public and take pride in rendering fine service. Cheerfulness, a calm manner, flexibility and the ability to work successfully as a team member are all essential.

RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work a three-meal per day schedule when needed and be “on your feet” for long hours each day. Must be able to lift and carry trays ranging in weight from one (1) to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to assist in the moving of furniture when setups for meals or special functions are in process.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Schedule includes weekends and holidays, with long hours on a daily basis. Work takes place mainly in the dining room, although other service areas are sometimes used. Frequent trips into the kitchen are required during the workday.

HAZARDS ENCOUNTERED: Spills or grease on walking surfaces; broken glassware or china; hot food, dished and beverages.
