Responsibilities:
Oversight of the APN fellowship program:
The Lead Advanced Practice Nurse II (APN II), functions within the Center for Advanced Nursing Practice. This position promotes evidence and value-based care focused on APN practice, quality and nurse sensitive indicators, the patient experience, care coordination and transitions. By applying advanced clinical experience, academic knowledge, leadership, innovativeness, and system-thinking skills, this position will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of systems and processes seeking opportunities to improve patient-centered outcomes and evidence-based APN practices.
(5) Five years experience as a Nurse Practitioner needed.
Lead APN for the Center of Advanced Practice Nursing:
1. Build Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Relationships
a. Collaboration, communication, & coordination with medical and nursing leadership (Medical Affairs, Medical Executive Committee (MEC), APP Liaison Committee for the MEC, Medical Credentialing Committee,Chief Nursing Officer & Clinical Directors)
2. Coordinate life-long journey of advanced practice nursing provider education across the organization
a. Seek opportunities for educational strategies to facilitate life-long learning of the advanced practice nurse
b. Facilitate leadership development
3. Provide oversight for APN scope of practice
a. Act as a resource/support for department and practice issues:
1. Scope of practice
2. Regulations
3. Practice compliance
4. Over-sight of quality measures to assure safe patient-centered evidence-based practice
5. Credentialing/privileging representative for Medical Credentialing Committee
a. Collaboration, communication, & coordination with medical and nursing leadership (Medical Affairs, Medical Executive Committee (MEC), APP Liaison Committee for the MEC, Medical Credentialing Committee,Chief Nursing Officer & Clinical Directors)
2. Coordinate life-long journey of advanced practice nursing provider education across the organization

practice nurse providers.

Assist in the implementation of the "Hospital at Home" program
c. provide oversight for the APN on-boarding credentialing orientation and integration into
practice and the medical center

APN Internal Medicine Fellowship Program
The Lead APN will act as the program director for the NP fellowship program
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Oversight of the APN fellowship program:

objectives relating to knowledge, skills, and competencies based on general and program specific specialty requirements published by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC)
-
integration of milestones and entrustable professional activities (EPAs) into the curriculum as specified by specialty specific requirements
-
identifying methods by which the objectives are to be achieved through learning activities
-
evaluation system clearly documenting the APN fellow performance and attainment of milestones and EPAs
-
attainment of the educational plan

clinical rotations to assure advancement and gained experience and clinical responsibility following the educational plan

annual review of the program to

assess the quality of the educational experien ce

ensure maximum benefit from the program

assessment of each clinical teaching unit to ensure appropriate teaching staff, appropriate patients and professional services functioning in accordance with the plan

assessment of resources appropriate to education to ensure emergency care, intensive care, radiological, laboratory, infectious disease utilization with optimal effectiveness

evaluates feedback opinions of faculty and APN fellows

Participates in selection of the candidate for acceptance into the program

Participates in performance assessments

Participates in faculty selection to assure appropriate education professionally and academically

Completes information as requested by the ANCC to maintain accreditation

Participates in providing regular reports of progress to the APN fellow as well as faculty

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. MSN- Nurse Practitioner (NP). 2. Maintains active practice in the role of an APN II. 3. Maintains APN credentialing privileges with a collaborating physician. 4. National or Board APN Certification in area of population served.5. Five (5) years expereince as a Nurse Practitioner. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and MSN-NP preferred. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. 2. Advance Practice Nurse License. 3. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. 4. Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate. 5. Controlled Drug Substance.
