Course Description
This course prepares students with the systems-level approach to the analysis, design, management of civil infrastructure systems. The fundamental concepts are taught through a series of examples drawn from the various aspects of civil infrastructure systems applications. Optimization techniques discussed in the class include model building, linear programming, nonlinear programming, integer programming and the use of algebraic modeling languages for describing and solving optimization models.
Responsibilities*
Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks one applicant to teach CEE 553 in the Fall 2023 term (August 28, 2023 – December 6, 2023). The class is scheduled on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00am – 10:30am, Room 1012 EECS. The position will be 0.30 FTE (30% effort) and requires the lecturer be responsible for teaching students the topic of Infrastructure Systems Optimization.
Required Qualifications*
A master's degree, or equivalent education and experience is required, and a PhD is preferred in a field relevant to the course subject. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and knowledge of the university policies and procedures.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
