Job Summary


This position is responsible for assisting the Systems & Archives Librarian with the management, organization, and implementation of the Striegel Archives and Southwest Regional History Center. This position also assists the Collection Management Librarian with the ordering and payment of print and electronic materials for the McFarland Library.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist with the coordination of daily activities of the Archives and History Center Collections.
  • Provide direct assistance to McFarland Library users as it relates to the Striegel Archives and History Center Collections.
  • Assist with digitization efforts of archival collections.
  • Order materials and manage invoicing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to learn/knowledge of the Library of Congress classification schemes and other standard library tools sufficient to locate materials.
  • Skilled in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office) and various types of office and computer equipment (ex. copiers, scanners, microfilm readers, etc.).
  • Skilled in human relations and communications, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage in detailed work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate budgetary records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ALMA automated library system.
  • Knowledge of archival practices.
  • Knowledge of digitization practices in a library, archives, or museum setting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, reach overhead, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
