$10,000 SIGN ON NO WEEKENDS NO HOLIDAYSPOSITION PURPOSE:
Consistent with the Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Professional Licensure Standards, the day treatment clinician is a member of the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center multi-disciplinary treatment team and is accountable for the delivery of holistic, compassionate, individualized, and effective care demonstrated using the core functions of practice associated in a clinical role.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
- Current with all state licensing requirements, including LMHC or LISW.
- Demonstrated education, training and/or experience with evidence-based practices having served in a clinical setting (preferred).
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandato1y Repo1ier Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Undertake primary counselor/clinician responsibilities for designated patients including:
a. Establish a positive, trusting rapport with patients and/or families.
b. Conduct thorough bio-psycho-social assessments
c. Provide individual, group and/or family counseling and educational sessions for both patients and family members.
d. Monitor participation and progress in the program to assure the planned provision of services.
2. Prepare and maintain electronic patient records consistent with rules and regulations.
3. Assure compliance with all regulatory rules and regulations including HIPAA, 42 C.F.R, IDPH, Joint Commission, etc.
4. Consult, confer and coordinate with members of the multi-disciplinary team for psychiatric services including the psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, social workers, etc.
5. Create, implement, and monitor individual patient treatment plans according to needs and circumstances while revising/updating them as appropriate.
6. Coordinate with area agencies and resources to offer holistic care for patients while minimizing potential barriers, referring patients when necessary.
7. Demonstrate patience, compassion, and motivation in a high-energy and demanding environment.

11. Serve as a teacher, mentor, and coach to patients, students, new nurses, peers, other colleagues, and staff.

13. Seek feedback concerning one's own practice.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center supports a shared leadership philosophy and encourages staff to demonstrate accountability for their own practice. Therefore, the nursing organization reflects a flat structure. The counselor reports to a supervisor or clinical director, who in turn reports to the Vice President of Patient Care Services. No subordinates formally report to this position, but the incumbent may serve as a mentor to other staff and may delegate activities to unlicensed assistive personnel as outlined in the MercyOne Delegation Policy.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
I. In an 8-hour day, the employee must be able to sit for 6 hours and stand/walk for 2 hours.
2. Occasionally (6-10% of work time) required to bend/stoop, reach above shoulder level, kneel, and push/pull.
3. Position required occasional (6-10% of work time) lifting and/or carrying up to 10 lbs.
4. Requires ability to respond to unpredictable situations frequently.
5. Requires the ability to record activities independently or with a device assistant.
6. Job requires high level of mental concentration to attain established deadlines. Working environment includes frequent interruptions.
7. May be exposed to marked changes in temperature and humidity, infectious diseases, hazardous waste, and chemicals.
8. Must be able to see at near visual acuity level.
9. Must be able to speak.
10. Must be able to hear speech.
11. Must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives.
