LOW VOLTAGE TECHNICIAN – JOURNEYMAN - Technology & Information Services

POSITION OVERVIEW*

This exciting new role to our agency has a unique opportunity to assist in the creation of a new service model for our region. As part of this team, this position works closely with service providers, district partners, and agency colleagues to implement and maintain network telecommunication projects in support of students learning within and outside of our three-county area.
As a Journeyman, this role also has the to assist in growing our agency program, while growing the professional field itself by providing guidance and supervision of apprentices from our local community college.

QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Oregon Limited Energy Technician, Class B (LEB) license required. Class A (LEA) preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience providing design, installation, and troubleshooting a wired network infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects.
  • Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
  • Experience writing and editing project plans, user requirements, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with other software tools, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience in the organization and management of documents, file versions, etc.
  • Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
  • Provide own transportation to numerous settings within a flexible work schedule that may include evenings and occasional overnight stays.
  • Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 40 pounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Install wiring, VoIP systems, intercoms, security cameras, access control systems, projectors, flat panel displays, IP clocks, A/V equipment, and other electronic items as needed.
  • Design, plan, coordinate and implement network telecommunication projects, and other projects as needed.
  • Provide estimates of electrical and other repair projects in terms of labor, materials and overhead.
  • Keep abreast of changes to the National Electrical Code.
  • Complete mandatory continuing education as may be required by state.
  • Order required materials and maintain detailed records.
  • Research and implement technologies and standards to be used by the agency.
  • Present information to various groups on technology initiatives.
  • May coordinate and schedule the work of outside network and telecom contractors, supervise vendor performance, and check vendor work to see if it meets standards.
  • Work directly with third-party software vendors to identify and resolve customer issues.
  • Updates and maintains records of wiring locations.
  • Develop and maintain wiring standards
  • Develop specifications for small to large sized projects.
  • Organize and write systems documentation aimed at the proper reader levels.
  • Provide end user support for the agency, its component districts and other clients.

Salary and Benefit Information

  • Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
  • Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD Classified salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
  • Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
  • Employer paid PERS, holidays, sick leave and personal days are also provided
