Tazewell County, Illinois is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and collaborative individual to serve as a Maintenance Coordinator.

Under the direct supervision and direction of the Buildings & Grounds Facilities Director, the Maintenance Coordinator maintains the buildings, grounds, and equipment for the county. Assignments may include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work. This is a full-time union position with a salary range of $19.72 to $24.62 per hour.

Responsibilities:
  • Carries out preventative and reactive maintenance programs which may include the use of software, personal electronic equipment, etc., for buildings and equipment including boilers, heating and cooling systems, air handling units, pumps, control systems, elevators, emergency generators, lighting systems, safety systems, security systems, buildings structures, roofs, parking lots, turf, landscaping, signage, etc. Maintenance may be mechanical, carpentry, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Works with contractors to maintain building systems, HVAC equipment, etc.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment which includes frequent use of a computer workstation to assist in diagnosing and addressing maintenance issues.
  • Cuts grass, removes snow, and checks entrances to county facilities. Maintains power equipment and other machinery.
  • Prioritizes work orders and interacts with elected and appointed department heads so that maintenance needs are carried out.
  • Conducts inventory checks and orders supplies and parts subject to supervisor approval.
  • Responsible for periodic water/chemical testing.
  • Works with AutoCAD, PDA, and various other programs pertaining to plumbing, mechanical, electrical, security, P/C, and various job-related software. The position requires me to be on call for emergencies. The position keeps documentation regarding preventive and reactive maintenance programs.
  • Assists the Building & Grounds Superintendent with coordinating work activities and assists in assigning coworkers required projects to complete.
  • Provides a list and assists with purchasing supplies and materials needed to complete routine maintenance as well as scheduled projects.
  • Signs for purchase orders up to $500.00.
  • Provides assistance to coworkers to turn in timesheets to the payroll department in Superintendent’s absence.
  • Provides assistance in scheduling preventative maintenance on all building systems including roofs, mechanical systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Performs routine inspections of all fire alarm system components including panels, pull stations, exit lights, fire suppression systems, etc.
  • Maintains records of inspections, tests, system repairs, upgrades, etc.
  • Assists in scheduling and with the annual fire alarm inspections.
  • Installs communication lines, data lines, and electrical circuits and makes recommendations to the Superintendent for outside contractors as needed.
  • Troubleshoots and assists in repairs to issues related to data, security, and communications.
  • Assists Sheriff’s Department personnel and outside vendors in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading security systems in all county facilities.
  • Assists Sheriff’s Detectives with setting up covert video camera systems.
  • Assists the IT Director with computer system repairs and upgrades as needed.
  • Assists the Superintendent in providing training to other maintenance staff in the areas of the following: Sprinkler systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Acorn Controls, Pneumatic/Electric door locks, Sally Port Garage Doors, HVAC Web Control, HVAC, Smoke Detectors, Water Softener Checks, Boilers, Power Lift Training, and Elevators.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures for building structures, mechanical equipment, utility systems, temperature control, and refrigeration.
  • Considerable skill in the use of hand and power tools, specialized equipment, snow removal equipment, and electronic test devices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have basic problem-solving skills and be able to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to be bonded.
