Summary
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance services and repair function to facility and operations equipment to ensure safety and that production schedules are met.
We are hiring for our 2nd shift.
- 2nd Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 11:30pm ET
Responsibilities - Observe equipment in operation to prevent/diagnose potential problems.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove, repair, and replace defective parts.
- Identify, suggest, propose, and discuss solutions to equipment and facility issues with management.
- Develop and maintain maintenance logs on all equipment.
- Requisition and order stock parts services for proper and prompt repairs.
- Work with Contractors for repair, maintenance, and installation jobs.
- Maintain and service electrical, mechanical, heating, plumbing, gas, air, wastewater, and cooling systems.
- Produce preventive maintenance schedules, tool inventories, repair logs, lubrication logs, etc.
- Troubleshoot programmable logic controller (PLCs), controls, motors, medium voltage equipment.
- Perform electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic system repairs to facility and process equipment, including HVAC and refrigeration.
- Work with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision to support production priorities.
- Drive maintenance production in area of expertise such as welding, fabrication, electrical, HVAC, controls, carpentry, etc.
- Demonstrate technical expertise in brewing, packing, and support equipment.
- Utilize expertise to develop and implement maintenance strategy for equipment. This includes creating maintenance process documentation and training operators and technicians.
- Mentor other technicians to improve their technical knowledge and assist with developing training plans as necessary.
- Act as a leader when multiple technicians are focused on a single maintenance job.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple tasks according to business need.
- Proactively coordinate maintenance activities with Brewing / Packing departments and provide clear status updates at appropriate intervals.
- Submit ideas for improvement of equipment and processes to support continuous improvement. Act on improvement ideas, track and communicate results.
- Provide guidance to department maintenance technicians regarding best practices, optimal use of department tools, and proper techniques.
- Lead portions of the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly daily direction setting (DDS) meetings, including, daily reporting and prioritization of defects found/ fixed.
- Daily reporting of breakdowns.
- Execution of the plan for the day.
- Weekly reliability (RE) overview and development of Line Team through sharing RE learnings.
- Weekly tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data such as backlog, preventative maintenance (PM) completion, etc. which are indicators of the planning and scheduling.
- Ensure AX data integrity and adherence to AX standards.
- Lead documentation of standards and coach the Maintenance Team, operators, and maintenance team through the identification, prioritization, and resolution of defects.
- Breakdown Elimination: Identification of triggers, tracking of RE through AX, Packaging and Brewing Logs, ensuring completion of 5 Why’s and implementation of countermeasures
- Planning & Scheduling: Plan, schedule, and assign all work (corrective and preventative maintenance) for the line. Prioritize work as it relates to addressing top stops/losses, including shutdown planning.
- Build capability of the Maintenance Team, operators, and mechanics to understand their equipment at component level in addition to identifying and resolving defects.
- Onboarding of maintenance employees.
- Education - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; at least 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience - Computer literacy, competent in internet and Microsoft software (Word and Excel). Must have electrical, controls, welding, plumbing, and carpentry experience. Beverage, brewery, or food processing experience a plus.
- Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with team members.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Technical Skills - Basic electrical and PLC skills required; pump and motor repair, boiler, packaging, maintenance and refrigeration knowledge preferred. Must have knowledge of pumps and valves, bottle fillers, packers, slitter sealers, palletizing equipment, piping systems. Must have general mechanical knowledge of mechanical power transmission (such as gearboxes, pulleys, conveying systems), heat exchangers (such as plate & frame, tube type), and piping systems. Must have instrumental knowledge of control systems (basic electrical, ladder logic/programmable logic controls). Demonstrates expertise in specific area of maintenance such as electrical, packaging equipment, welding, HVAC, fabrication, controls, carpentry, etc.
- Physical Demands - The employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; extreme heights; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and outside weather conditions. The noise level is often very loud.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks
- Pay Range: $35.00/hr. - $40.00/hr.
- Additional Pay: $10 per shift (for 2nd shift)
