Responsibilities
Patrols airport runways, taxiways and ramps to ensure FAR (Federal Air Regulations) Part 139, 77, 150 compliance, inspect for the presence of hazards such as improperly working lights, pavement markings and signs, FOD, broken pavement, debris, fuel or oil spillage, or ice and snow on airfield and prepares self-inspection report and work requests; patrols airfield for the presence of wildlife; utilizes frightening and/or harassment techniques to disperse wildlife hazards; removes and identifies dead wildlife from active movement areas. Conducts perimeter inspections to ensure fence line and posts are properly secured. Provides Air Operations Area (AOA) escorts for contractors, and aircraft operator tenants for relocation of aircraft as needed. Inspects Fuel Farms, fueling equipment, and fueling operations to ensure NFPA 407 standards are adhered to. Performs Snow Desk duties, and issues NOTAMS as needed. Prepares aircraft RON reports; explains airport rules and regulations to pilots, tenants, and employees; issues airport violations. Conducts SIDA, Movement and Non-Movement training and practical’s. Responds to medical calls to monitor traffic and liability issues. This is a trainee position with the Airport Operations division. Candidates may be promoted to an Airport Operations Agent position after meeting the required criteria.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree. Must successfully complete a 10-year Federal background check. Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in an Aviation-related field OR six months of experience working at an airport facility.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
