We are currently seeking to fill a position at LyondellBasell’s Matagorda site located 13 miles south of Bay City, TX. Our Matagorda site has approximately 225 employees and contractors and is a world class chemical manufacturing facility with 4 operating units that produce high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic resins. The Project Manager (PM) works for the Matagorda Maintenance/Reliability/Capital Projects department. The individual reports to the Capital Projects Manager for the Matagorda site. The PM will manage capital projects up to $10MM. This position will provide support for capital projects throughout the Matagorda, Victoria, and Chocolate Bayou sites.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Employ the company's Project Management Process (PMP) and comply with company standards in the execution of capital projects
• Lead and manage definition of project, scope development, and front-end engineering in support of the project objectives
• Manage and lead multi-discipline project teams, including company and contract personnel, in resolution of technical and commercial issues
• Prepare and implement project execution plans and develop cost effective contracting strategies
• Accountable for project cost and schedule controls, project reporting and obtaining funding for projects
• Must have excellent communication skills, demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to gather information and develop a thorough understanding of the project, while providing strong leadership skills to lead a diverse cross-functional team is essential
• Must display strong personal initiative and effective interpersonal skills
• Able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
• Identify, analyze, and manage risk on projects
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Deliver GoalZERO HSE performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor involvement and management systems.

Min. Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or technical field
• 5+ years of experience in a refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment as a project manager preferred
• Relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Strong personal leadership skills
• Must have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and be able to manage performance through effective dialog
• Good coaching and mentoring skills
• Good organizational and prioritization skills
• The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and through written documents is required
• Must be a self-starter and be able to seek opportunities for improvements within the site
