Manager, Business Continuity Job at Spirit Airlines
This role ensures the stability, integrity, availability, and operation of core organizational functions, policies and procedures that effectively mitigate known risk, and identify rising ones. This role will work closely with IT, Emergency Response & Recovery Management, functional business owners and subject matter experts to document and assess the current state of the company’s business continuity plans and disaster recovery efforts in the event of a disruption to the core business functions and/or critical systems (e.g. cyber-attack, natural disasters, various internal/external threats) and processes/protocols. This role will be integral in furthering the maturity of the business continuity and disaster recovery policies, procedures, and protocols going forward and centralizing the function. The Manager will assist in interviewing, member management, and training of various stakeholders throughout the business to achieve the goals of this role. In addition, the role will also provide support in identifying and documenting gaps, industry trends, the impact of future changes, and process improvements to be implemented.
- Lead the development, implementation, review and exercise of business continuity and disaster recovery plans/policies/procedures.
- Assess and define the current state of the company’s business continuity and disaster recovery plans/policies/procedures.
- Work with the Senior Manager Emergency Response & Recovery and subject matter experts in executing BCP/DR projects/audits.
- Elicit and document business processes and functional specifications for Business Continuity; critically evaluate information.
- Lead the development of test procedures that are necessary to monitor the status of the BCP.
- Develop a process to ensure all aspects of the business are assessed and risks mitigated when determined to be in scope.
- Prepares, maintains, and communicates business continuity reports; ensuring long-term strategies are identified, tracked, prioritized, tested, and reviewed.
- Develop personal competency in the processes of the business partners, as well as possessing an understanding of the Company’s systems, team members/guest and logistics.
- Partner with assigned areas of the business to participate in business process improvements for determining value added opportunities.
- Develop excellent working relationships with internal technology leads, business unit leaders and vendors.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs, or technical developments).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Business Continuity, Crisis/Emergency Management, Risk Management, or related fields).
- 5-7 yeasr of experience.
- With at least 3 years of recent Business Continuity, Crisis/Emergency Management experience required.
- Relevant industry certifications for business continuity and/or disaster recovery preferred or in process of obtaining (e.g., Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), EC-Council Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP), etc.)
- Airline industry experience preferred.
- Able to interpret and present technical recommendations.
- Able to document comprehensive business and IT Processes.
- Previous experience gathering data for BIA and DR criteria.
- Knowledge of business continuity and/or disaster recovery and other similar functions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills that showcases an ability to effectively summarize and assess technical information for a broad audience.
