The Manager, Distribution Planning is responsible for leading the companywide routing and strategic route planning processes (reroutes). The position reports to the Director, Distribution and Routing. This corporate role is responsible for anchoring the BBG operational excellence program in distribution planning. Working directly with site Operation leads, key activities include – reroute project leadership, standardizing routing operating procedures, bench marking, sharing best practices, and serving as the routing and strategic route planning subject matter expert.

- Analysis and Problem Solving
- Execute reroutes to supporting new business growth, acquisitions, seasonal solutions, and routine routing updates
- Support capital and resource planning activities to determine appropriate number/type of vehicles and drivers needed
- Deep dive into data and systems to analyze a variety of business challenges to provide root cause and preventative solutions
- Operational excellence – establishing benchmarks and working with sites to close performance gaps
- Perform regular reviews of routing performance
- Partnership
- Gain alignment with states on areas of focus related to delivery routing and service policy management
- Lead service level improvement initiatives in the market working with sales, operations, finance, and leadership
- Support development and training of site routers and managers
- Subject matter expert (SME) for routing and systems: Omnitracs Routing, Strategic Planner, Dispatch, and Insight
- Process Improvement
- Establish goals and monitor progress: Delivery frequency guidelines, On-time Delivery, Productivity Targets, database maintenance
- Continuously update and communicate routing standard operating procedures
- Lead development and implementation of routing training materials
- Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in in route planning
- Analytical experience required with knowledge of routing systems data
- Mathematical/statistical abilities
- Understanding of route planning technology tools and business process
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate the results of analysis clearly and concisely in both verbal and in written form.
- Data gathering skills, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including the ability to link business process improvements to KPIs.
- Experience in change management specifically in implementing and influencing change.
- Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
