The Manager, Software Engineering,- Mobile will lead a the Alpha Informatix Mobile/Tools Software Engineering team in their efforts to deliver the VEA Mobile product and software projects for Mobile applications and tools to support R&D reseach. This role includes leading a sSoftware eEngineering team and collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams. This role involves both people leadership as well as individual technical contribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Act as player/coach to lead a software engineering team and Mobile software development activities using Agile/Scrum methodology
• Perform resource planning and support proposed technology projects
• Identify strategically useful technologies, contribute with hands-on development, propose & carry out proof of concept for implementation, and lead implementation efforts
• Proactively report on status of development, quality, and risks to management
• Effectively estimate time and effort on projects and tasks in collaboration with the team, demonstrate ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks
• Provide technical mentorship to a the Software software Engineering engineering team
• Identify resource requirements, build hiring pipeline for software engineers with strong focus on retaining talent
• Propose and manage to applicable coding standards and best practices, including design & code reviews
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attend surgical cases, engage with surgeons, and maintain familiarity with current company endeavors across technical areas
• Maintain and prepare software documentation in compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 13485

Requirements

• 3+ years Agile/Scrum mobile software development experience, ScrumMaster certification a plus
• Working experience in cross-platform development framework such as Xamarin, MAUI, React native, Flutter a plus
• Proven experience delivering custom mobile solutions for both Android and iOS, connecting with cloud-based services, such as RESTful API’s and deep understanding of user authentication (such as Auth0)
• Fluent in C#, .Net Core and proficiency with Java, React, C/C++
• Experience with security and distribution of mobile applications (Google play store, Apple app store and App Center)
• Working experience with Agile methodologies, GIT/Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, TDD, pair programming, and tools such as Jira, SonarQube
• Proven success in building, career development and retaining professional software development teams
• Experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple projects
• Experienced at delivering robust and reliable mission critical production software on-time
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to manage up and down within the organization
• Excellent leadership, time management, communication (written and verbal), decision-making, presentation, and organization skills
• Demonstrated success in developing software in regulated quality system environment
• Must be skilled at managing a significant workload and achieving excellent results, taking on additional responsibility and managing priorities as needed
• Adept at creating and following realistic plans, goal setting, resource management, contingency planning, coordinating, and cooperating with others

Education and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Mobile software development with minimum 3 years in commercial mobile software development experience
• 2+ years supervisory or management experience in Software Engineering required.
• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $135,000 to $160,000 Full-Time Annual Salary
