JOB TITLE: Manager, Special Event Sales
JOB TYPE: Full Time, Salary plus Commission

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Manager of Special Event Sales is responsible for marketing, selling, and booking new Polar Park Events business. This person will serve as the initial point of contact with non-game day private event clients with the primary responsibility being selling, booking, and contracting corporate, non-profit, social, and special events at Polar Park. This client-facing position requires exceptional skills in account management, business development, and sales prospecting to generate business and develop relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create strategic sales and marketing plans and materials for the Polar Park Events department with an emphasis on events such as holiday parties, board room meetings, trade shows/conferences, and non-profit walks/runs.
  • Book corporate events, holiday parties, meetings, non-profit events, and social/personal events that take place at Polar Park on non-WooSox Baseball game days.
  • Propose detailed plans for new, creative, and unique events at Polar Park with the goal of generating incremental revenue through Club-promoted events.
  • Conduct outbound sales efforts to maximize revenue potential for Polar Park Events.
  • Manage inbound inquiries via Polar Park Events website and special events email address.
  • Conduct outbound ticket sales efforts for large scale, ballpark-wide events, and service group outings through the event day.
  • Host site tours of the venue with potential clients and upsell Polar Park assets.
  • Prepare proposals and estimates for prospective clients in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Worcester Red Sox personnel, clients, and concessionaire personnel, and ensure that event specifications are achievable for clients and their guests.
  • Draft and distribute event agreements for execution and collect license fees for all Polar Park Event bookings.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Special Events to ensure that all booking information is communicated clearly and efficiently in the transition from sales to services.
  • Service smaller events such as meetings, social/personal events, and holiday parties by coordinating client needs with operations, food and beverage, and A/V needs to ensure consistent high level of service, including Banquet Event Orders, Invoices, etc.
  • Perform event supervision on-site on the day of select events, including liaising with catering, security, facilities, and other areas of the event operation.
  • Assist the WooSox Foundation’s fundraising efforts by leading the planning and execution of charitable events throughout the year.
  • Attend networking events in the Worcester community and beyond to build relationships and drive business.
  • All other duties as assigned.
CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • 2 years in event sales or digital marketing (preferred)
  • Prior work experience within fast-paced, unstructured, and frequently changing environments. Industry experience within the hospitality or event industry is highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an outgoing and sales-focused personality
  • Works well under pressure, with an ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
  • Strong level of focus and commitment to providing a high level of customer service
  • Unwavering professionalism
  • Bilingual and multilingual is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours throughout the year including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Creative experience in Photoshop, social media, graphic design, and website management is a plus.
