Since our founding in 1951, the Claims Conference has secured more than $90 billion from the German government in indemnification for Survivors.
For 2023, the Claims Conference will distribute approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and allocate approximately $750 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. The Claims Conference has an opening for a Manager of Strategic Initiatives role. This position will work closely with the SVP of Emerging Initiatives to develop ideas to position the Claims Conference for the next decade. The ideal candidate is a visionary who will utilize their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to bring initiatives to fruition. Your sense of ownership, and ability to think out of the box while effectively leading and managing projects will enable your success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing from concept to completion, cohesive, innovative and strategic initiatives to further the mission of the Claims Conference;
- Seeking and engaging with strategic partners to help develop innovative ideas, ensure strategic collaborations and further the mission of the Claims Conference;
- Mobilizing resources across Claims Conference offices and departments to facilitate projects from concept to completion;
- Facilitating strategic opportunities for supporters, partners, and volunteers to become more involved in the Claims Conference mission and values, including possible Ambassador or Fellowship programs;
- Supporting efforts to implement new initiatives for the Claims Conference to further different facets of Holocaust studies while continuing to foster current ones (i.e., Claims Conference surveys);
- Working with staff on directing Claims Conference resources in outreach to survivors and partners;
- Facilitating creation and recognition of the expertise at the Claims Conference on the population, trends, and needs of Holocaust survivors;
- Supporting the management of the budget with the assistance of the SVP, CFO and accounting team;
- Collaborating and working with support staff as hired for new initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred with at least 6-8 years of experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communications;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Project Management skills;
- High degree of initiative and strategic problem solving;
- Proactive with a strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently
- Superior interpersonal and analytical skills;
- Strong interest and understanding of our mission;
Claims Conference offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target salary range for Manager, Strategic Initiatives in the New York City market is $80,000 - $90,000. This salary range represents Claims Conference’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
