Job Posting Title Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description Summary American Axle Manufacturing is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join the team in our Bolingbrook, IL facility.

In our push for quality, technology leadership, and operational excellence, AAM's Engineers are researching and embracing new technologies, processes, and machinery to achieve greater efficiency on ground-breaking new products in the automotive industry.

Every day our Engineers are overseeing the selection and implementation of automation and robotics on newly built assembly lines and establishing control charting of critical features and processes, while monitoring results and determining machine and process capabilities and performance reliability on existing product lines.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced production environment, an understanding of online or offline programming experience, and experience working with 3-axis CNC machines.

Job Description
Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support
Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements
Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings.
Identify optimal tooling for machining, resolves issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences
Meets production requirements by crafting needed equipment modifications and advising crews on equipment installations
Conducts training on new and modified equipment to operators; providing reference and support resources
Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines
Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database.
Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches
Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education
Completion of Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or combination of relevant education and experience.
3+ years professional experience (automotive manufacturing environment preferred)
Experience working with 3-axis CNC machines
Knowledge of AutoCAD preferred
Knowledge of Heat Treatment process preferred
