Position: Lead Mechanic

Summary: The Lead Mechanic is responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of all the equipment. Additionally, this role is responsible for sourcing, ordering and receiving all necessary repair parts and components. Other duties include listed below.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all work in a safe manner.
• Assist in establishing safety and health policies and procedures for repair and service areas
• Report all safety violations or incidents
• Diagnose and assess equipment for necessary repairs
• Make all repairs in a professional workmanlike manner.
• Source, order and maintain parts and components needed to properly repair and maintain equipment
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs
• Maintain, organize and be responsible for parts inventory
• Meet regularly with Shop Manager to discuss work load, equipment maintenance schedules and make recommendations to improve the process.
• Oversee the Ready to Rent Process
• Train new technicians
• Apply professional troubleshooting techniques to properly identify issues or needed repairs
• Inspect equipment and release for rental
• Maintain a clean and organized shop area
• Assist customers with pick-up and return of rental equipment as needed
• Ensure all equipment is properly secured to trailers and/or customer vehicles
• Demonstrate safe and proper operation of equipment to customers
• Test start all equipment prior to releasing equipment to customers
• Assist Shop Manager as required
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times
• Must maintain an acceptable attendance record
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with coworkers, management and owners
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be reliable, honest and hard working
• Must be a team player with a great “can-do” attitude
• Must have great customer service attitude
• Minimum of 3 years working in an industrial, commercial environment
• Strong desire to succeed
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work outside for periods of time
• Ability to lift 70 lbs. occasionally, and 30 lbs. repetitively throughout the day
• Must have experience working on diesel, two and four stroke engines
• Must have experience working on hydraulic and electric systems
• Ability to operate various types of machines including aerial work platforms
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft outlook, excel, word and PowerPoint
• Must have demonstrated experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical machinery
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to read diagrams, prints and Operations and Maintenance Manuals

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior work experience in the Tool/Equipment Rental Industry
• Advanced mechanical, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience
• Diesel, two stroke and four stroke engine repair experience and knowledge
• Experience in teaching others proper repair and maintenance techniques

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.71 - $30.91 per hour

Experience:

• Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Preferred)
