Service Project Manager/Estimator

Job Summary

The Service Project Manager is responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards. This is position has three general areas of responsibility: account management, project management, and sales/estimating.

Position Responsibilities

• Identifying prospective projects to bid.
• Reviews plans and specs of selected jobs, understands scope of work and attends pre-bid meetings as required.
• Prepare takeoffs for assigned projects.
• Utilizes database of labor rates etc.
• Establishes and maintains list of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepares and reviews scopes with vendors and subcontractors as required.
• Solicits bids from vendors and subcontractors.
• Creates estimates for change orders.
• Coordinates job turnover with Superintendent/Foreman.
• Managing project objectives, plans and setting performance requirements.
• Oversee the construction project from start to finish.
• Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of labor resources needed.
• Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.
• Ensure that construction activities move according to schedule.
• Communicate effectively with the subcontractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
• Project coordination.
• Monitor the progress of the construction activities.
• Maintain budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
• Prepare project closeout documents.

Position Skills

· Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering is preferred

· Bachelor's degree, preferably in construction management or engineering

· 2-5 years of experience in construction projects in some capacity

· Excellent communication skills - job requires constant communication with All State team members, vendors, and customers. The ability to understand who needs to know what and follow through to ensure everyone is on the same page is essential.

· Understanding of MEP building systems; experience with common piping systems including steam, condensate, chilled water, hot water. HVAC systems.

· Knowledge of construction safety practices, ability to mentor and hold crews accountable for complying with safety policies

· Ability to plan and organize a team effort.

· Good client management and goodwill building ability.

· Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of the teams.

· Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.

· Capacity to handle pressure, multi-task, and work with a sense of urgency.

· Ability to prioritize tasks.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF editing

· Willingness to travel throughout Connecticut to visit customer sites.

· Ability to learn and adapt.

Meetings

· Attends all staff and departmental meetings.

· Participates in Project Review and/or Closeout Meetings as required.

· Represents All State in meetings with third parties as required.

Essential Functions

· Using computer, copier, scanner, printers, cell phone, landline.

· Analyzing, organizing, problem solving skills required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
