Responsibilities

Within Sanofi's Corporate Affairs department, the Global Media Relations Department is responsible for promoting the company and its activities to the media. In line with company strategic objectives, the Senior Manager is a part of, supports and contributes to the Global Media Relations team, as well as the strategic and impactful planning, direction, and/or execution of media strategies across the company and global business units or functions.

The Senior Manager (SM) supports and contributes to the Global Media Relations (GMR) team:

  • Helps to develop proactive and creative media strategies and campaign execution to support global and country-level Sanofi business priorities, 2) Ensures dissemination of important news and media coverage to relevant business units and leadership 3) Execution of key activities including global/country press release dissemination, global related communications needs, media monitoring, event management and various other activities to support the GMR team.

  • The SM provides support to members of the corporate affairs leadership team and counsel to the global business units regarding coordination of corporate priorities and scientific milestones. Additionally, proactively protects and works to find opportunities to enhance the corporate image with coordination of company news and corporate announcements.

  • The SM partners with the U.S. Public Affairs and Communications teams and other relevant U.S. functions to identify topics relevant to the organization.

  • Collaborate to develop and implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of programs and deepen impact in the U.S.

  • The SM supports the strategic planning, direction, and/or execution of media strategies across the company and global business units.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The SM can be responsible for supporting a specific scope of activities which includes one or more of Sanofi's global business units, divisions and/or corporate functions described above.

  • Communications experience, with a minimum of 10 years, that includes critical and strategic thinking and a track record in media relations.

  • Understanding of positioning an organization to achieve tangible and high impact outcomes in a competitive communications environment.

  • Ability to coach and support senior leaders, including the executive committee/C-suite, and senior executives as spokespersons.

  • Excellent writing and synthesis skills.


Education:

  • Generalist higher education or specialized communications / journalism. US: bachelor's degree required, masters or higher degree beneficial.

  • Years of experience: minimum 10 years, in a communication agency, PR agency, or "in-house" corporate communication


Beneficial Experience:

  • Languages: English proficiency mandatory.

  • Additional languages beneficial including French.

  • Expertise in media relations is mandatory.

  • Experience working with global / media / journalists (and the ability to understand their function, issues, methods, expectations, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and to deal with complex issues in a regulated environment, either directly in or similar to pharmaceutical, that requires resilience, responsiveness, and flexibility.

  • Experience in management of reputation / notoriety.

  • Software: knowledge in using Microsoft.
