Job Description
A Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. Clinical assistants perform many administrative duties, including answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients’ medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, and arranging for laboratory services. Clinical duties include interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients’ charts. May be required to collect samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
Skill Set:
A Medial Assistant must have excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to work on many projects at once. He/she must be very detail-oriented and organized, to maintain accurate records. A Medical Assistant must display a high level of patience as they often encounter people who may have trouble communicating or understanding the procedures prescribed. He/she must be good listeners and good communicators, as the Medical Assistant communicates with patients and their families and often are the go-between for them and medical providers. He/she also work well with others, as they will work as part of a health care team, striving to provide patients with the best care possible.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room.
- Perform preliminary physical tests: Take blood pressure, weight and temperature; report patient history summary.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Entering of information into computerized databases.
- Schedule in-office and telemed visits with patients, verifying times with patients and preparing charts.
- Explanation of and ensuring completion of patient history and patient consent forms.
- Schedule Sleep, EEG, & DME procedures by making arrangements with Sleep, EEG, & DME providers for patients, verifying times with patients and preparing charts.
- Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
- Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification, knowledge of proper use of AED.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download
Requirements:
· High School diploma or GED equivalent.
· Excellent computer, multi-tasking, and telephone skills.
· The ability to work well under pressure.
· TEAM PLAYER and willingness for diversified job duties.
· Previous experience in specific medical field required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
