Medical Assistant Job at Pediatrix
Overview**

- The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties. The Medical Assistant supports patient care by taking medical histories and recording vital signs of patients as well as administrative duties such as requesting and updating patient medical records, filing and preparing correspondence for patients or members of the healthcare team.*
- Responsibilities*

- Greet and escort patient to exam room, gather patient history, measure vital signs and document all information in patient medical chart. (Telemedicine and/or in person visits)
- Answers incoming calls from patients and the provider line.
- Triage and process messages from patients, front office staff, referring physicians and pharmacies to physicians. (Phone calls and portal messages).
- Maintains patient charts, records and other information. Preps electronic chart for upcoming appointments.
- Communicate instructions to patients as directed by the physician.
- Assists with scheduling of tests (EEG’s, MRI’s, Labs, Genetic testing)
- Obtains prior authorization (when needed) for medications prescribed by the physician.
- Ensure exam rooms are turned over and clean at the end of each day.
- Completes medical records requests.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family.
- Treats all patients and their families with dignity and respect.
- Follows universal precautions, OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Attends required meetings.
- Performs other assigned duties as directed
Qualifications*
Education Level: Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required. MA Certification preferred
Experience Years: _1+ years’ experience in office based setting preferred. NextGen experience preferred but not required_
_Experience Industry: _Healthcare

- Neurology experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Maintain CPR certification.

- Compensation: The pay for this position ranges from* $19.00 - $25.00* per hour and is based on years of relevant experience.*
