Medical Assistant III - Homeless Healthcare Collaborative Mobile Clinic Job at UCLA Health
The role of the Homeless Healthcare Collaborative Medical Assistant will include providing care to people experiencing homelessness as part of a multidisciplinary team in various settings including on the streets, in encampments, at interim housing/shelter sites, and at community health and resource fairs. This position will also include sharing the responsibility for driving the mobile units and are subject to an ongoing DMV pull. Medical Assistants are unlicensed assistive personnel who work under the direct supervision of a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant. Medical Assistants participate in the patient care in the ambulatory setting, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and provide support during life threatening emergencies. MAs may perform basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services when conditions regarding supervision, training, specific authorization, and records are met. Salary range: $27.24 - $35.94 Hourly
Required: Medical Assistant Diploma and/or Certification A valid CA driver’s license (subject to ongoing DMV pull) BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association Ability to use computerized patient care systems. Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow. Ability to perform accurate quality control and patient sample testing for waived tests. Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments. Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments. Ability to work overtime in cases of emergency. Ability to push, pull or carry 30 lbs or more Preferred: Spanish fluency Lived experience or work experience with homelessness or underserved populations Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license
