Medical Office Assistant Job at Urology of Indiana LLC
POSITION SUMMARY: Promote quality patient care in a courteous and professional manner. Function as a Front Office Assistant as well as a Medical Assistant when needed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make eye contact with and greet all patients in a kind, enthusiastic, and helpful manner. Ask patients to sign in upon arrival and obtain any information as required.
- Advise patients of any delay and the time involved.
- Maintain communication with the clinical area to maintain appropriate patient flow and to update waiting patients. Copy/scan and verify patients' insurance cards.
- Check patients' medical record against the presented insurance card for accuracy.
- Verify current signature on file and obtain updated signature as needed.
- Confirm with patient the need for a referral. Scan insurance card. Run insurance eligibility.
- Print and distribute daily updated patient list each morning.
- Place completed chart in appropriate area for patient visit.
- Perform chart prep prior to clinic.
- Schedule appointments for x-rays, lab tests as needed.
- Obtain patient encounter form, collect any co-payment, service feed and guarantor balance due and schedule next needed appointment.
- Closure of appt -Thank patient for choosing UOI and ask "Is there anything else I can do for you?
- Answer all incoming calls in a prompt and courteous manner transfer calls as needed. Adhere to UOI telephone etiquette standards.
- Back up MA duties when needed.
- Assist with coverage at other offices when needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Graduate/GED
Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years previous clinical experience
