Our busy Ophthalmology Practice is looking for compassionate patient friendly, hardworking, reliable staff to join our team.

Due to a recent expansion, we have several openings for receptionists. Candidates must be able to work in both our Racine and Kenosha office locations on a rotating basis.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

2. Computer literate.

3. Competency in problem solving and decision-making.

4. Team-oriented.

5. Management of multiple projects simultaneously.

6. Strong organization with attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Telephones

a. Answers inbound telephone calls and routes to appropriate station.

b. Processes telephone calls regarding appointments.

c. Transfers calls requesting medical advice, prescription refills or surgery information to the medical assistant.

d. Transfers calls seeking financial information to the business manager.

e. Transfers calls from physicians to the doctor they have requested or to the doctor who is presently on call.

f. Provides accurate messaging documentation all other calls.

2. Patient Discharge

a. Intercepts patients upon discharge from treatment areas.

b. Escorts patient to appropriate area if additional tests have been ordered; checks with insurance clerk regarding coverage and prior authorization for testing.

c. Reads the route slip to be sure all necessary information has been recorded; obtains any additional information needed before patient departs.

d. Totals daily charges, requests payments, and provides receipts.

e. Posts charges and payments to computer.

3. Day-End Closeout

a. Collects tapes from all posting terminals.

b. Totals and balances all tapes on close-out report.

c. Runs tape total of all checks and cash received.

d. Balances against totals.

e. Prepares deposit.

4. Reception Room

a. Picks up anything left behind by patients (empty cups, crushed tissues, etc.).

b. Straightens and replaces chairs to original positions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
