Responsibilities
The Coordinator performs complex, specialized Medical Staff function-related administrative tasks with little to no supervision. Effectively interacts and communicates with Physician, Administrator and Director level personnel to ensure project success.
Key responsibilties include:
- Provides support of medical staff committees, as assigned, including but not limited to maintaining a written summary of meetings, providing background research, initiating and preparing agenda and meeting packets, following up on actions taken, writing of correspondence, facilitation of policy formation and ensuring communication between medical staff committees.
- Coordinates administrative support services for medical staff and medical staff officers. Maintains a fundamental knowledge of medical and affiliated staff bylaws, general rules and regulations of the hospital, medical staff departments rules and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Provides professional assistance to the medical staff while maintaining the confidentiality of peer review discussions and other sensitive matters in order to promote medical staff compliance.
- Maintains ongoing knowledge of medical staff activities and relays, as necessary, information regarding physician status, staff standing, privilege delineation, and or supervision status to appropriate personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
- Monitors the progress of physicians through the supervision period, (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) assisting department chairmen with the appropriate procedures, forms and time limits.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of the steps to be followed in credentialing procedures. This includes functions required by Delegated Agreement with Health Plans, Delegated Credentialing And Delegated Audits. Applies NCQA Standards to the process. Effectively interacts and communicates with Physician, Administrator and Director level personnel to ensure project success.
- Assists in training new Medical Staff Services Department personnel and assists with orientation of other new department members.
- Collects, tracks, trends and reports practitioner Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) within required timeframes.
- Collects, tracks and reports practitioner Health information to include Flu, TB and immunization Status entering information in the physician database and Saving information to the practitioner's efile. This function Creates a Medical Home for practitioners and fulfills CDC, CMS And DHS regulatory and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Education required:
- High school diploma / GED
- One to three years as a medical staff services professional, or two to five years related experience (quality, risk management, medical records, physician relations, physician practice management).
- Physician Database maintenance.
- Computer skills
- Communications, Confidentiality, Professionalism
- College level coursework in medical terminology, management, health care, documentation and law.
- Five or more years as a medical staff services professional or five years related experience (quality, risk management, medical records, physician relations, physician practice management).
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certifications preferred.
- Certified Professional in Health Quality (CPHQ) and Certified Healthcare Risk Manager (CHRM) desired.

Pay Range
$22.95 - $33.28 /hour
