Position Title: Membership & Business Development Manager

Basic Function:

Works to carry out the MSC mission by developing and retaining strong client relationships with
MSC members and potential members. Secures, services and retains our membership base and sells the value of our organization. Acts as an initial point of contact for members, provide opportunities to increase involvement an engagement with MSC for training, attending our annual conference, sponsoring events, purchasing products and utilizing our resources. Leads development efforts in identifying solid business opportunities to achieve objectives, strategies and goals including growing our customer base, growing membership, and retaining current members.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Works with Vice President to establish and execute goals, strategies and programs aimed at member recruitment and retention.

2. Through telemarketing, member/potential member site visits and other strategies, implements recruitment and retention programs to achieve membership growth and retention goals.

3. Maintains membership and other records as requested by Vice President sufficient for communication, control and research.

4. Connects members with other Minnesota Safety Council staff to fill member needs.

5. Leads on coordinating member gatherings aimed at connecting members and providing information to members on Minnesota Safety Council benefits and services.

6. Represents the Minnesota Safety Council at trade shows, and at member and community events.

7. Participates in Annual Conference and Regional Safety Day events.

8. Performs all other duties assigned.

Internal Relationships:

Reports to Vice President, is a part of the Member Services team and works closely with other members of the team. Works across teams to facilitate member services. Communicates frequently with other staff.

External Relationships:

Communicates frequently with prospective members and with current members during their renewal cycle. Represents the Minnesota Safety Council to communities and groups as requested by the Vice President.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Experience: Three to five years of experience in sales and business development with proven ability to find business opportunities.
