Position Description
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor 1 underfilling Mental Health Counselor 2 position within the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) Outpatient Services in Reno, NV.
This position will have responsibilities in the children mental health services providing outpatient clinical and targeted case management services to children ages 5 to 18. The incumbent is responsible for performing evaluations and assessments to include diagnosis and severe emotional disturbance determinations through interviews with youth and families and the review of medical records including social, development, and medical history; determining strengths, presenting problems, resources, and eligibility for applicable programs and services; and identifying appropriate interventions.
The selected candidate will provide individual, family, and group therapy or intervention sessions with youth by applying a variety of therapeutic techniques to include crisis intervention and risk assessment in order to effect change in youth behavior, complete documentation including Prior Authorization for services; determine the duration and appropriate method of therapy or intervention; establish priorities to manage problems; identify and implement changes in the treatment process as determined by youth and families regarding available resource to achieve treatment goals and facilitate youth return to the least restrictive environment possible; and act as an advocate through interactions with external agencies and organizations such as the courts, welfare, school, juvenile justice, parole and probation, related social service agencies, and community organizations.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.

- A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
- This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
- Working overtime on short notice, weekends and/or holidays is required.
- Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment.
