Description:

This position is responsible for screening, assessing and facilitating care for individuals contacting our 24/7/365 Behavioral Health Access Line or presenting in-person for access to care. Whether over the phone or in-person, mental health workers will provide crisis case management, facilitate connections to internal and external programs that address mental health and substance use disorder treatment, children and family services, and senior services. Mental health workers will ensure that clients receive the best possible care and are provided a warm and assistive connection to access services that promote the Murtis Taylor mission of "Partnering with you to achieve a better quality of life and a healthier community through engagement, teamwork and commitment." Workers will also identify clients who are uninsured or underinsured and complete initial and follow up data collection for eligible project participants .

Position requires a 2-week orientation M-F 9:00-5:30.

1st shift hours are from 8:00am-4:30pm

2nd shift hours are from 4:00pm-12:30am

3rd shift hours are from12:00am-8:30am.

This position is responsible for:

  • Monitoring/answering/operating Behavioral Health Access phone line
  • Assessing/screening registering and scheduling uninsured/underinsured individuals for project intake
  • Conducting over the phone and face-to-face enrollment data and follow up data collection
  • Facilitating insurance coverage, social security benefits and Medicaid/Medicare benefits for eligible individuals
  • Referring insured individuals to other treatment programs and services
  • Provides behavioral health interventions to individuals experiencing a mental health/substance use crisis
  • Provides screening for mental and substance use disorders over the phone and in-person for linkage to crisis shelter, emergency departments, or provider agencies active or inactive clients.
  • Conduct risk assessment to determine risk of harm to self or others and make recommendations for treatment to protect the individual and community with the guidance of the Outreach, Access and Benefits Coordinator or clinical designee.
  • Consults with clinical leadership as needed to assist in risk management and clinical disposition of difficult cases

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Desire to recognize and respond to the impact of trauma on the mental health and physical well-being of individuals.
  • Strong de-escalation and crisis management skills via phone.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of available community resources.
  • Capable of working with multi-needs individuals requiring specialized services: elderly, aggressive, dependent, dually diagnosed, etc.
  • Strong understanding of core mental health and SUD services including case management, counseling, day treatment, pharmacological management, crisis intervention, and IOP.
  • Excellent time management

Qualifications for the position:

Required:

  • A Bachelors's degree in a Health and Human Services field of study or at least 1 year of relevant experience in the health and human services field.
  • Able to take a culturally relevant and culturally sensitive perspective on needs, goals, services.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with less than four (4) points on driving record, a working vehicle, and current automobile insurance which meets state minimum requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
