Purpose of Position:

The Merchandise Planning Manager will play an integral role with Buyers, Vendors, Store Operations, and Supply chain to maximize the return on our inventory investment.

This position will be the financial lead for a given category, managing over $200 million in annual volume. Leveraging data, you’ll develop merchandise strategies that support the company’s sales, turn, and margin goals.

This leader will play a key role in the planning, forecasting, fulfillment, and inventory management of over 150 stores and our ecommerce channel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• · Manage a team of consisting of planners, allocation, and replenishment analysts, ensuring the team is working to achieve organizational objectives.
• · Clearly communicating, developing and providing reporting to highlight important trends in the business as well as strategies to maximize opportunities/mitigate risk.
• · Lead the pre-season buy process, utilizing data from previous seasons to growth sales and margin.
• · Create sustainable process that creates operational efficiency and clear expectations for all stakeholders.
• · Conduct weekly store performance evaluation, evaluating the cost/benefit of intra-company stock transfers.
• · Present inventory scenarios to illustrate potential outcomes and ensure alignment of all key stakeholders in the business.
• · Make pricing recommendations to ensure appropriate turnover of inventory and timely exit of seasonal product.
• · Participate in space planning, ensuring appropriate fixture size and product depth to maximize sell-through and customer experience.
• · Negotiation with brands on costing, inventory flow, and margin assistance when applicable.
• · Manager the Open-To-Buy weekly and present financial strategy to executive leadership on a monthly basis.
• · Analyze and adjust assortment strategies, product mix, and inventory levels to deliver profitable growth and inventory turn
• · Execute to regional and seasonal planning calendars, ensuring stores have appropriate setup quantities and achieve sell-though goals.
• · Maintain desired in-stock levels on core assortment and communicate any potential stockouts.
• · Perform post-season hindsight, identifying buy opportunities for the subsequent season.
• · Visit selling channels of both Sportsman’s Warehouse and competition to identify assortment opportunities for category growth/placement.
• · Develop inventory plans for new stores and communicate any deviations to the plan leading up to grand opening.
• · Successfully navigate ambiguous business situations.
• · All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• · Advanced user of Microsoft Office.
• · Strong written & oral communication skills.
• · Negotiating terms and costing.
• · Understanding of the inputs of Profit and Loss.
• · Problem solving and critical thinking.
• · Comfortable presenting findings and go-forward strategy.
• Education/Experience:
• · Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• · Experience in Retail buying or planning preferred

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
