Description of Duties:

The Mid-Level Cybersecurity Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:


  • Provide engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems required to meet all cybersecurity administrative and technical requirements.
  • Make technical recommendations and liaison support on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. Performs risk assessments and vulnerability analysis by employing various modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Analyze new contract projects in order to provide/enforce cybersecurity requirements during development.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies in work process and innovative approaches to completing scope of work.
  • Participate in project team problem solving efforts and offer ideas to solve vulnerability and compliance issues.
  • Review and validate all relevant Security Controls and/or applicable departmental policies for each IT system assigned.
  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products.
  • Continuously update all presentation documentation as required.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate operational group to accurately update the System Design Document for each IT system to reflect the approved state of each IT system.
  • Participate in internal and external audits from discovery through remediation.
  • Review and validate proper documentation to support the POA&M lifecycle shall be filed and updated as required, including well documented risk acceptance waivers and exceptions input detailing the potential risk to the ISSM and Authorizing Official.
  • Perform in depth reviews of logs and other artifacts for each IT system.
  • Act as a cybersecurity compliance ambassador.
  • Act as a cybersecurity compliance liaison with technical subject matter experts.
  • Guide Architects, Engineers to incorporate cybersecurity compliant solutions into new, and existing IT systems.
  • Ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated prior to implementation or ensure required STIG waivers have been submitted.
  • Examine and assess PPS requirements for projects and connections.
  • Provide artifacts that support the maintenance of the IC RMF packages.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL


This position is expected to pay $107,300 - $117,300 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 4 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 2 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of general experience.


  • Must have at least 2 years of directly related experience.
  • Strong RMF and EMASS knowledge
  • Must have a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (or must be able to obtain in 90 days)
  • Must have or must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Desired Requirements:


  • Ability to read and use Visio for network diagrams
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management
  • Ability to work autonomously and get organized
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication
  • Experience with cybersecurity vulnerability management
  • Proficient in ACAS and/or HBSS understanding and logic
