Job Summary:Southern OB-GYN Associates, PC has a full- time position available for a Certified Nurse Midwife. This is a great opportunity to practice full scope midwifery in an exceptionally well established busy practice. Beyond delivering babies, our ideal candidate will also provide women’s health services including annual gynecologic exams, family planning and pre-conception counseling, health maintenance and disease prevention counseling, perimenopause counseling and treatment. Currently our private practice consists of six Physicians, four CNM'S. and four APRN's. We deliver at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta GA. It is also staffed with an OB Hospitalist program and NICU department. The practice's primary location is located in Valdosta GA with one other location in Tifton GA. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues to provide comprehensive women’s health care throughout the lifespan, with an emphasis on reproductive, gynecologic, and family-centered health education while administering quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes, specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population from menarche through the reminder of the lifespan.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of common gynecologic acute and chronic healthcare issues.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient’s condition.
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
  • Participate in hospital call (1 in 5)

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited Nurse-Midwifery Program certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives, Current Georgia ARNP Licensee. ACNM Certification Required.

Current CPR certification required. 3+ years Women’s Health Care Midwife experience preferred.

INTERACTIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members. Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
