Ranger Station mixologist are responsible for providing a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons while satisfying their beverage needs. An understanding of mixing beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits is an integral part of the job. Taking beverage orders from customers and wait staff and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail is vitally important to the success of the restaurant.

Knock on the door of the nondescript ‘deliveries only’ door and wait to enter a stairwell that leads up to a space that looks exactly as a 70’s Montana ranger’s after work mixology temple should (dim lighting, wood paneling, and a singer songwriter on stage), where there’s a simple menu and bartenders whip up libations to taste.

As the beloved record collecting, whiskey pouring, “upstairs neighbor” to Ladybird, Ranger Station is intended to be an intimate 45 seat “speakeasy” cocktail bar, with an outdoors(wo)man sensibility and lived-in wood paneled upstairs lodge space. Ranger Station strives to be a darker, more eclectic, lived-in, warm and almost tavern-like interior that is more representative of what one might find in the upstairs of a 50+ year old lodge in western Montana. Think of the type of place that could be described as a “ranger’s watering hole” where those working in the national park might go after a long day ‘in the park’.

POSITION SUMMARY
The mixologist is responsible for making, mixing, pouring and/or creating alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to the guests of the bar and restaurant. Bartenders are to interact with guests in a courteous and positive manner.

  • Has a creative culinary approach
  • Creates drink menu according to ingredient seasonality and style of establishment
  • Prepares individual drink components before service (infusions, juices, syrups etc)
  • Spends hours developing and testing new drinks and refining current ones
  • Focused on the craft of a drink aspiring to create one that is memorable
  • Deep understanding of ingredients used - knows why a certain one is used in a recipe
  • Responsible for sourcing and stocking premium products and other bar supplies
  • Well-organized
  • Has an extensive repertoire of slicing techniques to enable them to create curated garnishes
  • Expands the definition of a cocktail, seeking out new possibilities concerning what they can potentially be

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $800.00 - $1,000.00 per week
