Who We Are Seeking

AHCCS is seeking a Mobile Makerspace Specialist to engage students in digital fabrication, computer science, engineering, and general STEAM activities in a fun, innovative, and out-of-school environment. Our Mobile Makerspace offers many opportunities for students, including after school clubs, summer camps, field trips, and multi-day events within their community.

Please note, this position requires significant travel starting from our Exton, PA office and will include overnight stays throughout the state of PA each month.

The Mobile Makerspace Specialist will be responsible for:

• Deliver STEAM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods in an out-of-school setting.
• Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
• Educate and train staff on safety and proper use of technology and any technology updates.
• Work collaboratively with Specialists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all applicable programs.
• Manage students in an out-of-school setting.
• Model and maintain exemplary punctuality and attendance.
• Take attendance during each field trip and event and track attendance trends.
• Communicate clearly, effectively, and work with local leaders to organize events.
• Maintain an inventory of materials to support the collection and organization of supplies necessary for teaching in a STEAM setting.
• Efficiently and safely admit and dismiss students from the field trip or event.
• Practice active supervision of all attendees including students, local teachers, and parents/guardians.
• Promote Mobile Makerspace field trips and events to increase student engagement.
• Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the Mobile Makerspace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Will Report To: Director of Educational Technology

Position Type: Full-Time, 12-month, Exempt position

What Skills and Knowledge You Can Bring

• Evidence of teaching or group leading experience.
• Evidence of experience with STEAM Education.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, staff, and the community.
• A proven track record in the use of instructional methods, the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
• Deep understanding of Next Gen Science Standards and Common Core State Standards for Pennsylvania.
• Excellent content knowledge in computer science, engineering and design topics, and/or digital fabrication.

Education and Experience

• PA Level I or Level II Secondary or STEAM Content-Area Certification are a plus.
• Teaching and/or leadership experience is required.
• Knowledge of STEAM Education is required.
• Experience teaching engineering, robotics, and/or STEAM topics is preferred.

Required Certificates/Clearances: Child abuse and criminal background clearances are required, including Act 168 Disclosure/Release. Must also complete Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training. Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
