AECOM is actively looking for a dynamic Rail Transportation Lead to join our World Class Rail Team in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Direct design of complex track arrangements including turnouts, special track work and rail yards.
• Preparation of construction documents
• Develop Proposals, Budgets and Schedules
• Manage task budgets and schedules
• Supervise and mentor junior rail engineers/designers.
• The ability to direct and/or work with a multi-disciplined team is essential to this role.

Minimum Requirements;

• BS in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with 8 years of rail design experience, including freight rail, passenger rail, light rail transit, rail facilities, and ancillary components to rail operations.
• Experience in both conceptual and detailed design of rail transit and railroad alignments including profiles, cross sections, track work component design, and layout.

Preferred Qualifications ;

• The ability to lead the design of complex track arrangements including turnouts, special track work and rail yards is desired.
• 15+ years of experience in civil and track design.
• NC PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
• Working understanding of industry guidelines / procedures / plan and construction document preparation.
• Experience working with Class I railways (e.g. CSXT and Norfolk Southern).
• Experience working with NCDOT Rail Division.
• Ability to scope / estimate complex rail/track projects.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods.
