JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision and/or functioning independently, will assist Surgical Services (OPS/PACU) staff with transportation of patients both within and outside of surgical services. In additions, will be responsible for assisting OPS with patient care, room turn overs, basic housekeeping and OPS front desk duties.

Required: Completion of a Certified Nursing Aide Course
Minimum Work Experience
Required: Basic computer skills. Excellent interpersonal, professional and customer service skills. Self-motivated, self-directed and able to function independently and professionally motivated. Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and changing work priorities.
Required Licenses
Current WY CNA license and BLS required at the time of hire.
FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Working Conditions
Front desk to sterile OR suites. Fast paced and at times stressful situations. May need to float to other departments as directed. Must be on-site at the SJH campus or other facilities to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
Physical Requirements
80% to 90% of the time standing or walking, able to independently transport patients in hospital bed/gurney, frequent lifting and moving patients and equipment. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Irregular breaks and meals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
CNA/ Technician Duties
- Assist with transportation of patients, using hospital beds, gurneys or wheelchairs between departments both within and outside of surgical services.
- Assist OPS and PACU staff with CNA level patient care. Duties will include: taking and recording vital signs, assist with getting patients up and ambulating, providing for and recording intake/output. Assisting RNs as directed within the CNA scope of practice.
- May be trained as an Endoscopy tech or OR Core tech as department needs change.
- Assist staff in OPS and PACU with administrative duties such as answering phones, basic patient registration, processing orders, obtaining results/reports as directed and other unit clerk duties.
- Assist OPS staff with cleaning and turning over rooms between patients. Will also assist with cleaning and turning over Minor Procedure Room between cases.
- Will float to other units based on department census.
