CAP is excited to announce that we are hiring an On-Call Caregiver at Our House of Portland. Our House of Portland is a small 14-bed, nonprofit residential care facility (RCF) in SE Portland. We care for individuals living with HIV who may be living with other comorbidities such as substance use disorder, kidney disease and heart failure. We also care for individuals who are on palliative or hospice care. Our House is an inclusive learning environment with an interdisciplinary team of Nurses, Social Services, Peer Recovery Mentors, and Caregivers who work together to meet the needs of our complex population. This is a rewarding position for someone who is looking to work in a non-judgmental environment of community and healing.

The Caregiver/CNA is responsible for direct resident care as well as environmental care of the facility on an as-needed basis. They collaborate with the Licensed Nurse as a team to ensure that all the resident activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding, and mobility, are met. Communicating with outside providers and a multidisciplinary team to ensure care coordination over various shifts. On-call staff fills in open shifts as needed and available. This position is responsible for working within the framework of the interdisciplinary team approach to provide direct resident care as well as dietary care and environmental care of the facility as needed by performing the following duties.

This 0.1 FTE position will report to the Residential Care Manager, and will be stationed at Our House of Portland.

NOTE: This is a non-management, non-union-represented position.

WORK SCHEDULE: Varies. On-call staff fill in open shifts as needed and available.

COMPENSATION: $19.34 hourly plus differential pay.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

  • Overtime after ten hours worked consecutively in one day
  • Weekend and Evening Shift differential of $1.00 per hour. Night shift weeknights $6.00 per hour and $6.50 weekends.
  • 401(k) Plan – CAP matches employee contributions up to 3% of salary, this benefit includes on-call and per diem staff

  • Accrue up to one week of sick time per year

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Oregon, in good standing
  • CPR certified or the ability to become certified within 30 days of hire
  • Valid food handler’s card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to pass DHS (Department of Human Services) background check
  • Strong initiative & self-starter with the ability to effectively solve problems
  • Ability to work independently with accountability, exercise sound judgment, and discretion
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet
  • Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to engaging in training workshops, team, and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better serve the communities that we serve

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1-year experience with caregiving or certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Oregon, in good standing.
  • Willingness to work with persons with physical, mental, and/or chemical dependency challenges.
  • Ability to teach and empower residents toward self-care and independence.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts as needed, including Day, Eve, Noc, and 4-hour meeting coverage shifts.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across a multicultural spectrum of organizations and professionals, including community partners and funders.
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced houselessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance use issues.
  • A strong understanding of issues relevant to people living with HIV, communities of color, and the LBGTQ+ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
  • Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness, and/or other barriers to employment.

CAP cares about the safety of our team members and clients.
